Opposing Suns rose from the ashes of Before the Solstice, a heavy psych-alt rock band based in Athens and Atlanta Georgia. Lead singer Clint Bussey wanted to play music with his brother Ashley Bussey now that they were both out of the cult that they grew up in. After a few solo shows played under the name Opposing Suns, including Strange Daze Music and Arts Festival in Atlanta, Clint decided to move to southern California, where his brother stayed, to start the full band. A friend he had met online believed that he could get investors for the band and get Rick Rubin to record an album for them. The plan was to set up some shows on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood and get big wigs from the music industry to come check them out. Well the band was started out in Cali with bassist Matthew Vaughan and drummer Kenny Lockwood, but not quite fast enough. They needed to make a good demo quick, to get the investors out, but that wasn't in the cards this go around. The band still played a slew of shows, including a night at the famous Whisky a Go Go, a stage graced by The Doors, Jimi Hendrix and many a hair metal band in the 80's. They also played Rock Party 2012, a big rock festival in Long Beach with up and coming band Animals as Leaders headlining. Seeing synchronistic signs that this leg of the journey was coming to a close in the fall of 2012, Clint, missing his young son Tierney, went back to Georgia, not able to justify being away from him if the deal wasn't being made. The band split apart for the next few years pursuing various endeavors. They had all indeed went to the symbolic "Cave" they had said they would go to on the old bio on this website. Ashley spent his days fighting between painting his art project "Blue Woods," and painting advertisements for businesses as he had been doing for a couple decades. Clint fought between his extreme anti-money tiny house/ busking lifestyle and pursuing his music as a business. Matt had decided to go to college to learn more about music and to become an alcohol and drug abuse counselor. Kenny continued playing for various bands in the L.A. area. They spent much time in silent reflection and even long meditations during this time to heal and find their true destiny. Things finally started to come into perspective late in 2016 when drummer Kenny Lockwood flew to Atlanta to attend a prog rock festival in the area. Clint and Kenny played an open mic and caught up, making plans to restart the full band again. Ashley and Clint had been talking most of the year about starting the band again and took Kenny's surprise visit as a sign that it was definitely the thing to do. In December of that same year Ashley flew into town to play a show with Clint at Moonshadow Tavern in Tucker, Ga., which went very well. Energized by playing shows again, they were determined to start the band again, and to take it all the way this time, record label or not. 2017, they said, will be our big year! Out of the Blue came an invitation to play Maydaze put on by production group Grow the Scene at The Vinyl in Atlanta. Ashley booked a flight to Atlanta to help Clint put the band back together and promote the show. They plan on booking lots of shows in Atlanta and surrounding states. Ashley is to arrive in just two more days when something unplanned for happens. Clint's truck, which he had only been driving for a few weeks, catches on fire and explodes. Him nor his friend Chris Fuller, who was riding with him at the time were hurt. They ran out of it before it really caught fire. The truck was burnt to a crisp, with no hope of being fixed. What will the Opposing Suns do now?!! What does this mean?
